HYBACS treats wide range of organic industrial wastewater
HYBACS treats wide range of organic industrial wastewater
A new wastewater treatment system demonstrates performance and versatility in a growing number of installations, including municipal sewage and high strength industrial, food, livestock, textile and hospital wastewaters. The hyper-active and dense biomass naturally attaches in proprietary porous rotors, enabling a system very economical in land, energy and capital cost.
Cost effective desalination: Innovation continues to lower desalination costs
Cost effective desalination: Innovation continues to lower desalination costs
Water scarcity, climate change and increased global energy consumption are all having an impact on technology and investment trends and leading to the implementation of more desalination projects. Anthony Bennett looks at how current and future technologies and manufacturing practices are constantly lowering the cost of desalination with every new innovation made.
Fluid power systems: Addressing real threats with magnetic core micro ferrous filtration
Fluid power systems: Addressing real threats with magnetic core micro ferrous filtration
Apart from the build-up of excessive heat in fluid power systems, failures as a result of contamination are at the very top of any hydraulic engineer’s list of potential causes. More specifically, contaminants equal to or harder than the material make-up of the system components themselves are the root cause of excessive wear. Yet conventional filtration can let them through to system components where they can do the most damage. Jobey Marlowe of Magnom reports on some recent developments.
Food and beverage: Delivering compressed air purity
Food and beverage: Delivering compressed air purity
The food processing industry is a large user of compressed air in manufacturing processes. However, there is a need for the highest standards of purity and strict regulations associated with its use. Mark White of Parker Hannifin's domnick hunter Industrial Division explains.
Water recycling in the brewing industry
Water recycling in the brewing industry
Effluent should be recycled back into brewery operations with less reticence than is currently the case, according to South African wastewater specialists Talbot & Talbot. Throughout many parts of the world there are areas or entire regions where water is scarce and water quality highly suspect. In these situations beer quality is often compromised and production schedule disrupted. The use of properly treated effluent presents the brewer with a safer option and greater security of supply.
